I just finished reading a Russian fairy tale about a wild girl who lived in a village. She was considered to be a witch. She spoke to the animals and the trees and had "sight". She could see into the hearts of all around her.
In fact, many of the villagers also placated the spirits of the trees, waters and animals. And so, for generations, the village prospered. The harvests were bountiful, the seasons rich and nature smiled upon them.
This changed with the arrival of the priest. He taught them fear and told them that they were engaged in demon worship and that nature was a dead thing and spirits did not exist in the grasses, the flowers and the animals.
He taught them that the wild girl was of the devil and that the village needed to rid themselves of her. Cast her out, ban her, kill her. She was driven out of the village by hatred as she tried to warn them.
Believing him, and shunning their old way of life, nature turned on the villagers. Their crops failed and drought came into the land. The wild girl was hated because she did not fear the priest, but saw through him. She saw that what he worshiped was the beast and not God, and that as the beast grew, so the spirits of the people, the animals and all of nature began to wither and die.
She eventually assisted to defeat the beast, and the nature spirits and the unseen world helped her. This is a story of transcendence, rising above impossible odds so that harmony and balance could be restored once again. So that the world could become holy once again.
Where are our holy temples today? Although I respect those who need to follow organized religion as their path, I do not believe that the edifices of religion are the holy temples of the future.
Archangel Michael, in a teaching transmitted through Ronna Vezane has said that the only temples of the future lie within our Sacred Hearts, not in stones or mortar. The Master Jesus said the same thing, the "Kingdom of Heaven lies within you", he said. The early Christian Church took the purity of that teaching and twisted it to their own ends, to give themselves power over the people and to fill them with fear. Like the priest in the story.
Stripped of Spirit, stripped of Light, everything lies fallow and eventually dies. So do we.
