I am reading a novel about Crazy Horse, the Lakota leader who defeated Custer at Little Bighorn.
Crazy Horse was one who stood apart. He knew he had been marked by Spirit from birth to be a Warrior for his people.
One of his ruminations was about Spirit and what happens to a soul when someone else tries to impose their vision or their dream upon you. Especially when it is completely alien to their thinking, and to their knowing.
What happens is that person starts to die. Their spirits die first. Now gutted and knowing deep inside that they cannot live another person's dream or their vision of spirit, that it is false and alien to them, they slowly die until they are extinguished completely.
They become slaves, inert in their captivity.
Of course, this phenomenon is not something that happened only in the interplay of white versus First Nations' cultures, although the toll to the original peoples was horrific. We see this in the streets of the inner cities every day.
We also see that same phenomenon happening today in our world religions, in our corporations, and in our governments.
When Spirit is gutted in the name of corporate profit and greed, for instance, when morality and ethics is set aside in the decision to embrace corporate rhetoric, when one makes the decision to fall into alignment with corporate will, without question, then one witnesses vibrancy of Spirit devolving into the abyss. And madness.
This tendency is also seen when one succumbs to the will of the imam, the priest, or the rabbi, without questioning the tenets of their teachings, and rejecting that which does not come from the heart of Spirit.
Once Spirit is extinguished, and the inner world ceases, all that is left is the flatness of 3D existence. The tawdriness of the material world and its fools'
gold, the suffocation of the senses through drugs, drink, or violence, busyness or self-absorption....or through an evil far worse...conformity....
The world that is lived through the external senses only will not save you now.
This is why we are being shaken to our cores, to our roots, to our Spirits. We are being shaken out of our torpor to say no to the tyrants, the false ones, and to the ultimate death of our Spirits, which will be our outcome unless we all wake up.
A refreshing Wind is blowing throughout the Earth.
