One of my best friends lost her sister to cancer recently. Her sister, Sue, was also her best friend.
My friend and I work together and we did the best we could to marshall her through this time of illness, decline and then death.
Sue loved dimes. She also loved owls. After she transitioned, my friend would start to find dimes in the unlikeliest of places. And pictures of owls too. And although I did not meet Sue I started to find them too, everywhere. In my closet, in my purse, in front of my desk. Dimes would appear and so did images of owls. It's like Sue was trying to get my attention.
Last Saturday I was on a bus headed into downtown. I watched a couple of girls get off at Granville Street. They left behind them a pocketbook of some kind. I picked it up and got off the bus behind them calling to them and showing them this book. They said it wasn't theirs.
I looked through the book, it was a calendar of sorts. Someone had handwritten on the front "Man's home is in the Stars". I turned the page and saw a picture of an owl.
When I told my friend this she said that on Saturday she was at the Granville market. She was feeling sad that day, it had been an emotional weekend for her. She walked into a pottery store to greet a friend. Her attention was immediately drawn to a plate that has a picture of stars on it. There were two owls on the same plate, looking up at the stars.
We are living in a time of Infinite Magic. But only if we choose to see it. Webs of Light and Love are reaching out to connect us, one to the other, and all of this is taking place beneath the hazardous commotion of the chaos that tries to divert us.
