Here is an image that I saw online today that showed a total solar eclipse. The similarities to an iris, to our own eye, is stunning. And yet as I reflected upon this image, I understood that the power of this event, which is building tremendously now, will curtail or shutter our world completely in the period of time that the moon blocks the sun. All of life, all living forms of life, will be affected.
It will also shutter our energy systems, in a sense providing a re-boot and a new beginning for those who choose to see the event in this way. A chance to leave everything behind us.
