In this holy time of year we often hear the frantic roar of life lived out of balance.
"Holy" in this definition does not refer to a specific tradition or religion. If anything, on this day of Winter Solstice, it refers to the turning of the seasons, and to the Great Mother.
We have finished one of the most tumultuous years many of us have ever encountered, and we must resist the systems and the cultural norms that seek to keep us off center. We must resist being sedated by a culture of control. We must resist becoming so frantic that we need actual sedation, which further removes us from our truth, and our Souls.
We are being gifted in these holy days. Not only is this the Solstice, but we are also being gifted with the planet Mercury in retrograde. This slows us down and causes us to go within and assess and evaluate our lives, free from the systems that constantly demand our attention.
A walk by a river or a stream, by the ocean. A walk in the woods, or simply sitting in your home with a solitary flower away from the bustle and the noise will do more for us at this time than a thousand gifts of tinsel.
It will be in this reflection, in this stillness, that we ready ourselves to begin a New Year of hope, love and abundance.
Fully Empowered.
