On summer solstice we pay homage to the Goddess, to the Mother God who was revered for longer than the current patriarchal gods have been in existence.
We turn our attention to her now as it is because of our neglect of her, in nature and in the feminine, that the world is in such peril. Mother nature seems to be reminding us that this neglect is no longer acceptable. And that, further, we have never been able to control her, but only have had the illusion of doing so. Such has been our arrogance.
I reflect on the power of the Goddess, who still reigns, and my hope is that balance is restored to the planet, and to male/female relations, before it is too late. The grasping, power hungry, "power over nature" attributes of patriarchy, ruling unchecked, is in its denouement, and the consciousness emerging around the world, the nature of nurture and caring is slowly starting to prevail.
Remember: the dinosaurs went extinct too.
