Peace and Love

I sit here in Victoria overlooking trees and sunshine, feeling the visceral silence and peace of this magical place move deep into my bones.  The sign-in for the wireless system that I am using in this B&B is "peace and love", which is appropriate as the lovely woman who owns this space personifies this.  Our conversation that started as a minimalist "how do you do" went on for hours last night as we talked of art, books, film making and her recent film, before moving onto an in depth conversation about Spirit guides and the Angels who watch over us and love us.

As I have taken the time to leave the maelstrom of the city and move into a quieter place for the weekend it also occurs to me that the wireless sign- on is representative of this time as well.

Love is such an old-fashioned word, isn't it?  In our age of sophistry and busi-ness we rarely hear the word mentioned, and yet if this is not the penultimate basis for all our actions and thoughts, for the way we approach our work and our play, then we are not going to fare well in the new world that is emerging.

For love informs this world, both love and light, and all that is not this is being painfully purged from within and around us with increasing frequency.

And so this woman, who has just finished a film on street people and addiction, put all of her love into that film, she held nothing back.  And I feel the same way about my books and even the single perfect image that I capture of a tree in the fall beside a silent stream of radiant color.  As I snap the picture a visceral joy fills me; otherwise the shot would not occur.  And the same applies to that perfect sentence that I try to capture that describes the anguish of a slain poet.

All of our actions, all of our joys, must radiate from the heart of love that lies within each of us if we are to begin to live in perfect authenticity and peace.

And start to heal this beautiful world that we all share.
