Now that the Catholic Church has been temporarily "decapitated" as we await the arrival of the next pope who will either carry on its medieval practices or move more into contemporary reality, it behooves us to think about our own sacred nature, without the influences of church, church leaders, priests, ministers and so on.
The whole basis of many religions is to have us struggle valiantly within our corporeal existence, knowing that we are "evil" and that "heaven" awaits the faithful, as long as we go to church for a couple of hours every week, think about praying and doing "good deeds" whether our hearts incline us this way or not. We do this because we are tainted, according to church doctrine, and must atone for "original sin" and overcome that moment in time when our mother Eve was tempted by Satan and brought all of us into the pit with her.
In my opinion, this belief system is completely medieval and very dangerous; furthermore, its credibility has run out because few people seriously believe this anymore.
Believing that we live on a tainted Earth causes us to abuse the Earth and each other, we are "sinners" after all, instead of taking our divine responsibility as stewards seriously. Putting our power in the hands of the church, the priest, the minister, etc., instead of listening to our own sacred heart means that we continue to buy into an outdated and outworn philosophy of who we are which abnegates the fact that we are sacred beings.
What if we were created to be the bridge between heaven and earth? What if God created us to be so sacred that all of the realms are open to us, and that we are in fact Beings of Light, as sacred as that of the highest realms and further, we were created to converse with God and the Angels with the same facility that we converse with our children, those we love, the animals, and the trees? What if our Divine Legacy has become so tainted by the institutions that we have given our power to that we have become dwarfs of who we really are and what was intended all along? Slaves to ego, to our religious institutions, and to our little selves.
What if it's time right now to reclaim our sacred heritage, and realize that heaven, or hell (our choice) is right here in front of us, not in the "next world" which is a fabrication of the church to keep us in check. And that in this volatile time, it is up to each of us to choose, very carefully.
