Mary Magdalene was the Apostle of the Apostles and the one in the Gnostic literature that was held in the highest esteem by Jesus.
She was the one that he loved more than all the others and the one who understood his teachings clearly.
His teachings were not about the external world of form and ritual, it was all about the inner purifying power of Love, a power accessible to all as equal creations of the Divine will. He considered the priests of his day to be hypocrites. So caught up were they in the pomp of their office and the certitude of their piety that the love of God had become a distant second in their teachings. In many cases, connection with a Divine force had become academic.
Jesus' teachings were all about love, and the recognition that unless one was baptized in love through an inner cleansing, a relationship with the Beloved would always be a chimera.
Certitude about God's will, however we define God to be, is an illusion. What is certain is that God is available to all and not just to those vested interests that in Jesus' time consisted of learned men in high places. All one needs is a grove or a mountain top or the quiet of one's home, for in Jesus' opinion, God whispers to us only within the sanctity of the human heart.
What we see happening today is a break down of many of our institutions and a shake up of the traditional church. This is a good thing because in many cases God left a long time ago, and the buildings and teachings have been left derelict. The only temple today that is worthy of consideration is the one that resides within, especially in this world of flux, change and turmoil.
Do not listen to those who say they have the answers, because they don't. Go directly to the Source for that. And just listen.
