We are more powerful than we think. Thus, we can "think" something into existence, an idea, an enterprise, a corporation...a church.
Those in power or in control of those institutions can then embellish this process by amassing more power within these institutions based upon controlling our "thought forms", and directing them towards certain intended ends.
But what happens when a thought form that underpins an institution becomes irrelevant? Does that institution become irrelevant as well? Can we reverse our thoughts about a certain institution so that without our support at a psychic or spiritual or emotional level that institution then has to adapt or wither away? I think so.
Take the Catholic Church as an example. We see in today's news a grim Pope Francis standing in front of an emaciated Jesus on the cross saying that he is upholding the tenets of the church by repeating the belief that homosexuality is a sin and women will never be accepted into leadership positions in the church. We feel sorry for a moment that such a doddering patriarchal position is still being upheld, it must take a lot of psychic energy to go against the increasing flow of pubic opinion in the opposite direction. And further, the moral and spiritual authority of this church, once held to be omnipotent because we gave it the power to become this way, is now being held up as a laughing stock throughout much of the world. Its inability to clean house makes it a hypocritical aberration.
What will happen to the church now that the "thought forms" that gave it life are turning against it, especially in this wondrous new age when in comparison it is increasingly taking on the pallor of a behemoth? What happens if it does not adapt to the vibrant reality of our diverse and beautiful world that increasingly considers patriarchal institutions like this one to be a joke?
What will happen is that without a foundation of support to prop it up, it will die out with its diehards over time, and probably sooner rather than later. The only way this increasingly irrelevant institutional church will survive is if it finally wakes up and listens to the music of the spheres and to the soul songs of those who are singing a far more profound, and sweeter tune.
