The night before her flight to Paris, Jenna dreamt. She was in a house that belonged to an Arab family. She was about the age of fourteen and wore a long black dress and ran in and out of the rooms chasing the other children. In the corner of the living room sat a man that she knew to be the father. He was quietly reading his newspaper, and appeared oblivious to the noise the children were making.
Suddenly everything turned chaotic. It was as though they were in a "house of horrors" , where the walls became skewed and the floors rose and fell as everything disintegrated. Jenna ran through the halls with the others as water poured in and swirled around them. She burst out of the house and found herself standing in front of what looked to be a garage. She recognized it as belonging to her friend Erica who was married to a Moroccan man and who lived close by her in Connecticut with their two beautiful children.
She entered into the building and was stopped by the strange sight before her. In the middle of the room lay what appeared to be an architectural model of some kind. It was enormous and filled the entire space. In its heart lay a labyrinth of immense proportions. It wound round and around the model in a dizzying fashion. As she examined it, she felt someone watching her and she looked up to see a man standing quietly behind the labyrinth with his hands folded in front of him. He was dressed oddly, in a turban and a long garment of extraordinary color. He had a quiet smile on his face. Jenna knew immediately that he was the Alchemist.
He leaned into the center of the labyrinth and pulled out what looked to be an enormous egg. It was made of blue porcelain and had gold veins of light running through its center. It was very beautiful and Jenna smiled when she saw it. The Alchemist looked at it for awhile, then turned and offered his hand to her.
"Jenna", he said, "this is the Philosopher's Stone. It has been given to the pure of heart from the Ancient of Days; it is a treasure that surpasses all understanding. It is the Holy Grail. It must be guarded at all costs. There is no one in the world who does not seek this treasure."
He moved closer and looked at her.
"It is yours. I am giving it to you."
He stepped back into the shadows as she took the stone from him. She held it to her cheek and felt the smoothness of its touch, and its caress. She looked into the winking beauty of its depths, and then she awoke.
