We are living in a time of wonders, where there are many voices seeking self-expression, as though we have been freed from some terrible bondage of cultural conformity and find ourselves speaking our truth once again.
We are not a monochromatic grey, we are unique and each of us has a story to tell and a way of telling that story.
For many of us it has taken years to find our voices again: family, culture, religion, our friends, our groups, have intervened in one way or the other to press censure upon us.
This may not be intentional, but the subtle conditioning of expected silence and following the status quo is the deadliest form of oppression that there is.
There is no "one voice". There is only a choir of voices, each playing their own unique part. Let our voices ring out, loudly and clearly. Let our unpracticed throats vibrate with our own song, not someone else's.
Let our soul song be heard and let us care not a whit about another's judgment of us, the "tut-tuts" of disapproval that generally comes from those who lack the courage to step forward with their own song.
It is far easier to criticize than to hear your own voice sing.
